GEORGE J. SCHMITT

Age 90, of Lockport passed away Friday, April 1st, 2016 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

George is survived by his loving family, wife, Mildred Schmitt (Raycraft), children, Ronald (Christine) Schmitt, Judith (Richard) Gagliardo, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Dukes and sister Bertha Lou Wattman. Loving grandfather of Joseph Schmitt, Jennifer (Joseph) Highley, Jeffrey Schmitt, Kimberly (Judaea) Johnson, Michael (Cori O'Hara) Dukes, Michelle (Kent) O'Hara, great grandchildren, Lauren, Sierra, Emma, Samantha, Alexis, Kaleb, Gage, Morgan and two great great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Florence Schmitt (Kamholz), siblings, Richard (Marie) Schmitt, Charles (Delores) Schmitt, Donald Schmitt and brother in law, Edward Wattman.

George was a United States Veteran of the Marine Corps who served during WWII in the 3rd Division. He was a life member of the Lockport Masonic Lodge #538, life member of the NRA and retired from Electro Motive (General Motors) in LaGrange after 40 years of service.

Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441 on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Masonic services, Thursday, April 7th, 2016 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
