Elizabeth T. Filip
Age 76, a resident of Manhattan, IL passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Beloved wife of Allen Filip for 59 years; devoted mother of Alan "AJ" (Lenita "Minnie") Filip, Nicholas Filip, Clidea (Dave) Lave, Timothy (Ann) Filip, Rodney (Rita) Filip, and Terra Filip; cherished grandmother of Tiffany, Billy, Tony, Nicholas, Savina, Amanda, Matthew, Kaitlan, Mitchell, Victoria, Rachel, Christine, John, Jeana, Briana, and Aiden; and great-grandmother of Emma and Evelyn; also survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother. She was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Carmella Saviano (DiGenova); and her brother Joseph Saviano and best friend Lorraine Tlapa. Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Patriot. Elizabeth was a member of the Women's Auxiliary at the New Lenox VFW Post 9545. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles, and making crafts, especially handmade Christmas ornaments. Elizabeth adored her grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them. She was an avid reader, gardener, and an amazing cook. In her younger days, Elizabeth enjoyed dancing and roller-skating. She appreciated a great bargain, and was fond of garage-sales and antiquing. She was an avid collector of Emmett Kelly clowns and antique dolls. The family will receive friends at St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 9:00 AM until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, would be appreciated.
